The tour starts off at the bronze statue of the famous playwright Carlo Goldoni. Then we head off to the stunning marble Rialto Bridge. Dating back to the turn of the 16th century this architectural gem went well over budget but as everyone will agree it was well worth it. Next we take in Marco Polo’s house. Born in 1254 into a wealthy merchant family, he is perhaps Venice’s most famous son. He embarked on an epic 24 year voyage to the East bringing back with him stories of porcelain, silk and gunpowder the likes of which had never been seen in Europe before. We continue on to the Piazza San Marco, the bustling vibrant square which is classed as Venice’s prime attraction. Admire the facade of the splendid Doge’s Palace before entering the piece de resistance of the tour, St Mark’s Basilica.
