Martial arts are one of China’s earliest and most enduring sports, utilising both brawn and brain to develop a fighting style that is as graceful, cerebral and elegant as it is ruthlessly efficient. The theory of Kung Fu is based upon classical Chinese philosophical principles of energy flow and discipline. Over its long history it has developed as a unique combination of exercise, practical self-defence, meditative self-discipline and performance art. Watch the unbelievable flying jumps, spinning kicks and flowing evasive moves of these honed athletes, who train for years to achieve high levels of skill. No traditional kung fu performance would be complete without the ultimate show of discipline, where one performer smashes a board over the other’s body or head, Jackie Chan style. In their traditional costumes, complete with lively music and evocative sets, the performers will lead you on a thrilling adventure back in time to the very roots of this ancient and enigmatic art form.
