Old Delhi is city within a city, a mediaeval walled city deep in the heart of the modern metropolis. First we'll take the metro into Old Delhi where we'll start the experience with a cup of spicy chai. Then it's time to dive into this maze of back alleys, markets, bazaars, temples and mosques, assailed and enticed by a thousand colours and aromas. Stop to sample some of the unbelievable street-food and let yourself be dazzled by the amazing variety of goods for sale. We'll visit sites linked to the First Indian War of Independence of 1857, brutally suppressed by the British as your guide tells you all about India's recent history and struggle for independence. We'll also learn all about Hindusim as we visit local temples dedicated to different Hindu gods. We will also pass by the magnificent Jama Masjid mosque. Dating from the 17th century, this impressive building is the largest in all India. At the end of the trip you are free for personal exploration or alternatively your local guide can assist with arranging a taxi back to your hotel. This fully guided morning tour takes around 3-4 hours and leaves every day at 09:00.
