Start with a 21km (13 mile) loop drive along this beautifully rugged landscape. See the impressive Wilson Cliffs, part of the 65-million-year-old Keystone Thrust, and pass by the fossilised sand dunes of the brilliantly coloured Calico Hills and limestone roasting pits used by the Paiute tribe of Native Americans, who would cook agave hearts in them. Enjoy the views from High Point Overlook, which is almost 1,500 metres (5,000ft) above sea level, on the way to Willow Springs.
